I'm usually a pretty big fan of HBO shows... Band Of Brothers, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Sopranos... These are shows that are especially well written, made and interpreted and usually depicting something less dumb that what more "mainstream" shows do.
That's why I got interested in True Blood a year ago and gave a shot to the first season... And at the end, I mean after 3 episodes, I had to admit that sometimes HBO can be really wrong...
First disappointment came even before starting to watch the show: 'what? another thing about stupid vampires again?!' Then some bigger ones suddenly appear whilst watching it... despite its good introduction scene, the rest was just despairing, some sex to attract teenagers, some bad classic plot (a small hot humid village in southern US)... In short, I hated it and I'm still totally not understanding its success.
There are musicians that are just more gifted than others, Mos Def and Massive Attack are among them. Both hailing in a different genres, they once reunited to produce one of the best I've ever heard: I against I. Mos Def raps great as he always does and Massive Attack play the background as nobody else can. The best way to start a blog, isn't it?!
